Build and Load Workshops

These sessions are designed for schools creating a master schedule using the "build and load" method. Prior to attending this session, schools must have completed steps A-K in the “PowerScheduler: Prepare to Build” workbook and have validated their build data, clearing validation errors that result. Schools will work with their scheduling teams to complete the build and load processes to the extent that time allows.

This is not a training session. It is a hands-on work session. Schools should plan to send all personnel needed to complete the build and load processes. Up to 4 people per school may attend.

The LEA/Charter School Coordinator is to sign up for the session. In registration, indicate which school will be attending. Note only 1 school per LEA may sign up for a regional build session at this time. It is only necessary to create one registration for each school - not one for each person that may attend. Each registration allows 4 people from that school to attend.

Sessions will run from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily. Lunch will be on your own.

Elementary Scheduling Webinars This online session will show elementary schools how to create their 2014-15 master schedule on the 'Live' side and schedule students into classes. We will also show how to use Dependent Sections. Elementary schools can either copy the current master schedule or create sections by hand on the Live side of PowerSchool during the summer months.

New Charter Training

This is a four day workshop designed to walk new users through the process of setting up their school for the new year. This session will include, but is not limited to:

New Counselors Training (High Schools Only)

This one day workshop is offered to high school guidance counselors. It will be a hands-on type training covering the basic functionality of PowerSchool pertinent to School Counselors. Topics covered include: basic functionality, navigation, state reports, attendance and graduation plans/progress monitoring.  Attendees need to know their login information for their LEA/school instance so they will be able to log in and follow along. If they do not have access to their school instance because school has not yet started, we will provide access to a training database.  Attendees must be an employee of the school and not a management company.

PowerSchool Scheduling Help Sessions Scheduling Help Sessions are offered to schools who are having difficulty completing the scheduling process.  Sessions are face-to-face at the NCDPI Building (301 N. Wilmington St. Raleigh, NC) in Room 564.  Schools will work with session facilitators to complete their schedules to the extent time allows.  Sessions are scheduled for one day, but time of attendance will vary depending on degree of assistance required.  Schools may register for only one help session to provide adequate availability for all schools.  If after the initial signup period (now through 5/22) seats are available, they will be alloted on a first come, first served basis.

Sessions will run from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with lunch on your own. 

Coordinators may register only one person for the workshop to represent the school.  Up to 4 people per school may attend with this registration.

PowerTeacher Grade Book Workshop

This is a face-to-face workshop to be held at DPI in Raleigh. Times for the workshop are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Attendees must be an employee of the school and not a management company.

This workshop will go over basic PowerSchool & PowerTeacher functionality such as taking attendance, creating assignments, entering assignment grades, working with categories/groups, printing reports, final grade setup/weights, etc.

Attendees need to know their login information for their LEA/school instance so they will be able to log in and follow along. If they do not have access to their school instance because school has not yet started, we will provide access to a training database.

This class is geared toward teachers and/or Lead Teachers.

Prepare to Build Workshops This session is for schools who build a true student-driven schedule each year. They do NOT copy and tweak their existing schedule.

This 3 day class will give instruction on tasks to be completed prior to returning to a 4 day Build Workshop.  Participants will be given several options of 4 day Build Workshops to attend for their region at a later date.

This session is for ONE person per school - the person responsible for entering scheduling data and school setup into PowerSchool.

Class will be 3 days. Start time will be 8:30 a.m. and will end at approximately 4:00 pm each day.  Lunch will be on your own.

Preparing for EOY - Validations and Expectation This one and a half hour webinar will focus on North Carolina specific business procedures and questions for the PowerSchool EOY process. During this session, DPI will demonstrate tips for LEA and school level users to locate student records as well as answer frequently asked questions.

This workshop will go over basic PowerSchool report functionality including importing of report templates and running canned reports found within the core product.  Attendees will also be shown existing object reports contained within PowerSchool.

Attendees need to know their login information for their LEA/school instance so they will be able to log in and follow along.

This class is geared to school or LEA level users who may need to build or run reports to perform their daily duties.

Never give your user name and password identification to unknown callers during telephone solicitations or in email. The Department of Public Instruction will not ask for your user account and password information for PowerSchool.
